04 .28 .14 Love Your #Selfie

NBC launches a second installment of it’s Love Your Selfie, Reclaiming Beauty series this week. You might remember how the TODAY hosts made headlines in February when they all went au natural on air for “No Makeup Monday.” Every day this week, TODAY will be covering a different angle of beauty, body image and self esteem.

I’ll be watching all week and taking notes. After all, these are the topics at the root of BeautyMama. I’ve previously written about influencing our young girls’ self esteem and how my own self image impacts my daughters. I’m eager to hear what the experts have to say about these things in the context of our societal obsession with appearance.

Here’s the lineup on TODAY:

Monday, April 28: Mirror, Mirror – The power to change the way we view ourselves when we look in the mirror. TODAY hosts comment on their own reflections.

Tuesday, April 29: Beauty Comes in All Shapes and Sizes – Are we open to seeing “real” bodies and natural shapes in fashion and the media?

Wednesday, April 30: Teens Tackle Body Image – Teens discuss what it means to “Love Your Selfie.”

Thursday, May 1: Finding Beauty in Cancer – Are there ways to feel beautiful while going through treatments?

Friday, May 2: Learn to Love Yourself Naked – Can we be comfortable in our skin?

Saturday, May 3: Body After Baby – Jenna Wolfe discusses.

Join in:  upload your photos on social media, using the hashtag #LoveYourSelfie— your photo could end up on air!

P.S. Are our pretty Facebook friends hurting our self-esteem?
